“I just want everything to be perfect..”

This is one our least favourite sayings, ESPECIALLY when being applied to weight loss. The reality of training and dieting is that there are many different effective approaches that can and will work for different individuals. They key is finding a well balanced routine that fits your specific schedule, likes/dislikes, goals & needs.

There is no “optimal” training or nutrition plan, but there are some key principles that can be applied to almost any diet and training plan to produce a great result. ALL of them are included and outlined in my 10 commandments playbook that comes with every package. It’s nothing epic or sexy, but it is very effective when followed.

Your weight loss journey won’t be a linear or perfect straight line and will inevitably be messy, emotional in places and very challenging. That’s why it’s integral to have a plan and approach that is close to your “normal” routine as possible. Complete overhauls to the “perfect lifestyle” don’t work and don’t really exist.

A short list of things that do not need to be perfect:

  • Exercise technique - you’d be surprised what the body is capable of adapting to given time, its MUCH better to train with zero knowledge beyond a video than it is to not train at all.

  • Food choices - giving yourself a hard time for eating “non-diet” or “unhealthy” foods is totally pointless. Weight loss is marriage between your energy output and energy intake, at no point can treats not fit into that. All drugs work on a dose response relationship, if you eat 10 slices of cake in a day it’s going to be difficult to make that work from a health perspective. If you eat 1 slice of cake a day a lot of people could make that work and be perfectly healthy given good choices outside of that. Eating 1 slice of cake as a treat on a Saturday, amazing, a really healthy relationship with “treat” foods and easily absorbed into a good week.

  • Your scale weight - things will jump up and down, you’ll have holidays and weekends away which are meant to be enjoyed. Managing your weight and body fat levels is a life long job so you may as well take a long term approach.
