KEEPING YOU SAFE DURING COVID-19
MAKING FORM SAFE
Since the start of lockdown, we’ve been told how important exercise is for good mental and physical health. However, with the enforced closure of gyms, many have found it difficult to exercise in a way they enjoy and that they’re used to, resulting in reduced exercise or even completely stopping exercising altogether.
Considering that being fit and healthy can minimise the detrimental health effects of viruses and help maintain our immunity, we are delighted to announce that we are able to reopen our studio from the 25th July 2020.
In accordance with Government guidelines (which we are continually monitoring), we’ve implemented a number of changes to how we operate in order to make sure you get your workout in safely, whilst still retaining the same fun and friendly experience you had in your sessions prior to lockdown.
The changes aim to keep symptomatic individuals out of the gym, promote hand hygiene, keep a flow of fresh air through the building, encourage social distancing and to minimise contamination of any equipment and surfaces.
Here are some of the changes that you can expect. Some of the changes may seem trivial, but they are all in accordance with the Government, Public Health England and Health and Safety Executive’s guidelines. We appreciate your co-operation and willingness to work with us to help implement them.
TEMPERATURE CHECKS UPON ARRIVAL
Upon arrival, your temperature will be taken with a non-invasive infra red thermometer. If you feel unwell or display an elevated temperature, you will be asked to go home and follow the Government’s advice of self isolating and calling NHS 111.
HAND SANITISING FACILITIES
We will provide hand sanitiser at the entrance of the building and in the gym. There are also other hand washing facilities in the drinks area and bathrooms with anti-bacterial soap and paper towels.
ENCOURAGING SOCIAL DISTANCING
We’ve rearranged the gym space to allow for individual “training pods” making it easy for everyone to keep their distance. We’re also limiting the number of people in the gym at any one time. A separate entrance and exit will also help to minimise any pinch points.
REGULAR CLEANING PROTOCOLS
Session times will be reduced to 50 minutes to allow for kit to be thoroughly cleaned before the next user. The bathrooms, door handles and other surfaces will also be regularly cleaned throughout the day.
KEEPING THE AIR FRESH AND CLEAN
Our air conditioning units supply air from outside which dilutes any potential air borne pathogens in the gym. Their use is encouraged in the Government guidelines. Limiting numbers in the gym and opening doors and windows will also increase ventilation, further lowering risk.
MINIMISING NOISE AND MUSIC VOLUME
Having to raise your voice increases the likelihood of producing aerosols and droplets that can increase the risk of COVID transmission, so for now we’re lowering the volume of the music slightly.
STICKING TO JUST THE ESSENTIALS
To limit chances of contamination, we ask that you try to bring as little to the gym as possible, so please come dressed in gym kit and don’t bring in towels. We’ve closed off access to the shower for now and removed cups and glasses, so please bring your own reusable containers for drinks.
REDUCING CONTACT POINTS
We’ll be keeping doors open where possible, contactless payment methods will be made available and all necessary forms will be in a digital format.
